Grounded in Dr Theodore Millon’s established theory of personality, the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-IV (MCMI-IV) provides clinically relevant insights into a patient’s personality patterns, supporting clinicians in making informed diagnostic and treatment-planning decisions.
The MCMI-IV introduces a Spectrum of Personality Patterns, conceptualising personality functioning along a continuum from adaptive to maladaptive. These personality pattern scales capture a broad range of functioning across three levels:
Normal Style: Generally adaptive personality patterns.
Abnormal Traits/Type: Moderately maladaptive personality attributes.
Clinical Disorder: Indicators of more pronounced personality dysfunction.
The MCMI-IV offers the following enhancements:
Updated norms based on a clinical adult population, a new scale, alignment with DSM-5 and ICD-10-CM, revised narrative content, and a stronger therapeutic focus.
A new Turbulent scale that supports a deeper understanding of patients presenting with this personality type.
Updated test items that improve clarity and strengthen the clinical relevance of the assessment.
Enhanced narrative content that integrates results more effectively with therapeutic practice and supports personalised treatment planning.
Updated Grossman Facet Scales.
