Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children, 2nd edition (KABC - II NU)

Comprehensively assess children's cognitive abilities

The Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children, Second Edition (KABCTM-II) usesminimal verbal instructions and responses to assess children’s cognitive abilities. Test items also contain little cultural content, so children of diverse backgrounds are assessed more fairly, making it better suited for contexts such as South Africa.

With the KABC-II, a Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) model for children can be chosen from a mainstream cultural and language background, or if Crystallized Ability would not be a fair indicator of the child’s cognitive ability, the Luria model which excludes verbal ability may be chosen. Administration of the same subtests on four or five ability scales can be done. Interpretation is then done based on the chosen model, which gives a global score that is highly valid and that shows small differences between ethnic groups in comparison with other comprehensive ability batteries. In addition, a nonverbal option allows assessment of a child whose verbal skills are significantly limited.
